PARIS -- A partnership between global phone network provider Orange and Israel-based dbMotion has allowed the latter to establish a key presence in the French healthcare IT market, dbMotion officials said at the Hit Paris 2008 expo.

France Telecom's Orange brand announced its entry into the healthcare market last fall. The firm launched its Connected Hospital project to develop an interactive communications platform for French hospitals.

Orange selected dbMotion to provide IT in support of health information integration, exchange and interoperability.

"We have signed a partnership agreement with Orange for our dbMotion Solution, leveraging Orange's position in the French healthcare market to give us a significant local presence and a good way to industrialize our deployment in France," said Johan Hjord, dbMotion director of sales (EMEA).

Orange and dbMotion held neighboring booths at the Hit Paris 2008 healthcare IT expo, 27-30 May. Medical records security and privacy dominated conference sessions at the expo. "It is important to have solutions that allow you to sort out or overcome sensitivities of security and privacy issues step by step," Hjord said.

The healthcare IT firm last September also introduced its EMR package into the Franche-Compté, the eastern region bordering Germany and Switzerland. The vendor is currently going through the detailed requirement analysis phase of the project and plans to go live with the project near 2009's end, Hjord said.
